Loma Prieta is a traditional German pilsner that’s sure to rock you (like a hurricane)! German malts lay a soft, yet nuanced foundation with notes of fresh baked bread. Czech Saaz hops provide a vibrantly floral and spicy hop profile. Brewed with our favorite lager yeast, Loma Prieta has a dry and clean finish.

A true Cali pilsner. Extra bright and citrusy with noticeable minerality. The hops add fresh pine, grass, pepper, a bit of asphalt, and weed skunk. The malt component is subtle and tastes like both dough and crisp toast. It’s quite dry and very crisp. Overall, very good take on a pilsner. From the tap it’s more bright and citrusy with some pine. From the can it’s less bright and more herbal- more Czech, basically. Either way it’s enjoyable.

This one is back again this year, dated 10/27/23. Crystal-clear amber brew with abundant foam in the Faust Weizen glass. Spritzy and clean mouthfeel. Crisp with a nice malty flavor, a touch of green herbs, and modest bitter aftertaste. Restrained, but flavorful, even elegant. I am happy to try a Beachwood beer that doesn't wallow in hops. Overall this is an admirable American-style Pilsner with all the flavors. From the 16 oz can purchased at O'Shea's Brewing.

Like Ryan Gosling pushing it down to shift into 5th gear in the amazing film “Drive,” this one is clutch. Yeah, like Babe Ruth hungover, and after a mid inning hot dog, he’s got the bases loaded and yep, his clutch ass self delivers too. The crowd goes wild! Oh, and the hotties for RyGo swoon. Ohhhhhhh. Think of a wild moment in your life in which you met the task and performed beautifully - that’s Beachwood Loma Prieta. One wipe, one flush, and hella clean.

On tap at Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach, CA.
Pours a hazy gold with a foamy bone head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. A foamy curtain of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, and grassy aromas. Taste is much the same with a grain flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

On-tap at Beachwood II, 45 IBU
A: Pours a clear gold with a medium white head, some solid lace.
S: Nice bready pils malt, with floral noble hops.
T: Direct pils malt flavour with a lot of hop character from the Saaz. Grass, honeysuckle, notes of light herbs.
M: Crisp and clean, light-bodied, definitely refreshing on an 80 degree day.
O: A solid well made pilsner lager. Hope this becomes the common beer at Beachwood as opposed to Foam Top, not that I don't like that beer, but this one has a bit more flavour and character with a nice bitter hoppy bite.
