Enjoyed on tap at the BruRm in New Haven this new brew is a dark mohagany red-brown color with a modest off-white head and decent lacing. The aroma is a hemp-like herbal malt with raison bitterness, unique and intriguing. The flavor is very consistent with the aroma, a dry herbal hop front with bready malt and a bit of Dr. Pepper sweetness. I really like this although I think not everyone will take to the somewhat odd qualities here. I think this is quite drinkable and becomes somewhat addictive in hop flavor. It is a bit anemic in feel, very little carbonation, slightly watery, but overall a hit. Red ales are all over the map but this was one of the more unique one's I've tried. You should give it a try while it's available!
