This Smoked Porter pours with very little head, dissolving to a minimal ring and a few bubbles. Color is ruby brown. Aroma is decent, the smoked malts are detectable, but not predominant. Mouthfeel is weak. Carbonation on this, and almost all Bru room beers is light, resulting in a syrupy concoction. The taste is strange, and there is something off about this beer- a bad metallic, almost moldy taste comes out. I've tased this odd flavor in their beers before and think it might be the water or pipes, but who knows. Unfortunately, I had a hard time finishing this one, and I would recommend the "Damn Good Stout" over it.

I sampled this brew at Stopper's. Poured into a snifter at a cold temp the beer pours a rich chocolate borwn with creamy tan head of 2 cm that fades to an edge layer and leaves windowpane lattice as it fades. Aroma is roasted malt and some espresso notes with some burnt wood and/or campfire notes. Not overly smokey though but present.
First sip reveals an average body with smooth texture and fine spacious carbonation. flavor starts witha bit of chocolate and roasted malt and moves to a mild smoeky finish. No hint of abv anywhere. QUite a smooth beer, it could be a little more smokey, but otherwise very enjoyable.

Notes say this is in honor of a fire the pub had a year ago, using English hops with a touch of peat. Could have used more peat. Popured out an opaque near=black brown color crowned with a chunky bubbly off white head. The nose had some good toffee-like characteristics, a little coffee, and some sweet milk chocolate. Where's the smoke? At best I get a little woddyness, but nos moke here. Ok, on we go. The taste confirmed everything fromt he nose, and again, no smoke? Where's the smoke? I was promised smoke. I was prepared for smoke. this is such a tease. The mouthfeel was typical for a stout, too bad they were trying to do a porter. Creamy, thick. slightly syrupy. This is a decent beer, probably my favorite of the night. If it was listed as the house stout, I think I would have been much more impressed by it. Smoked porter, you are not.
