On-tap into a pint glass (via a pitcher).
A: Very deep, clear, reddish-amber body; one-finger of dense white head shows good retention and ample lacing. Extremely dark for an IPA, but I'm okay with that.
S: Fresh floral and piney hops up front, with some caramel malt in the background. Solid, if uninspiring.
T: Good fresh hops up front, followed by some malty sweetness and BAR's characteristic (and pleasant, at least to me) buttery aftertaste. Smooth, but quite blander than the hoppy aroma promised.
M: Pretty light-bodied with low carbonation, and what bubbles are there are unpleasantly prickly.
D: Goes down easy, and pairs beautifully with BAR's incredible white pie with mashed potato and bacon. Awesome.
Notes: Definitely one of the better seasonals I've had at BAR recently. Nice fresh hoppy aroma. I would definitely order this ahead of any of their year-round offerings (except maybe the stout). Good stuff.
Cheers!
