Yet another growler provided by my buddy Andy after returning from Alaska. He said that the head brewer said this brew did not conform to any previous styles, and that after leaving this home to brew this beer, was hit in the face by a branch of Devil's Club. He wanted to make something that felt like you were getting hit in the face by a Devil's Club, so that is why it tastes like it does. In my opinion, I would consider it a mix between an Imperial Brown Ale and a IPA. Andy also said it was just a tad above 9% but don't quote me. Poured into pint glasses:
A - Deep caramel brown with creamy white head with great lacing. Patchy clouds in the middle. Decent amount of head that forms a solid foam ring.
S - A nice brown ale with nuts, citrus hops of orange peel, pineapple and cream. Oatmeal and brown sugar and a touch of really light hay.
T - A true mix of brown ale and an IPA. Nice citrus bitter hops. Cream, dank hops and oats but this is dominated heavily by citrus, bitter hops, especially when it warms a bit. A true punch in the mouth.
M - Really smooth and creamy with a tingle of bitter hops at the end. Carbonation is pretty good with a nice tingle.
O - Really interesting brew. The closest thing that I've had to this was the hop crisis by the Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery, except this has more of some brown ale characteristics. Really unique and worth a try. I'm really glad to have got the chance and would like try this again.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
