A gift from the family in August 2023 and drunk in October.
L: Washed out, dull yellow. No head on the pour (into a beer-clean glass). Lots of bubbles up in the middle of the glass.
S: Tart and vinous. No hint of cucumber or watermelon.
T: Despite the nose, there are very clear notes of watermelon early, and cucumber both early and late, both of which are ultimately overwhelmed by the very tart and salty Gose base. Mouth-watering tartness lingers long after the swallow and encourages further sips. I'm not a huge fan of Sours or Goses, but this one definitely compels me to drink it quickly.
M: Quite prickly, possibly accentuating the beer's tartness and fitting the package nicely.
O: The tasty flavour profile of this beer compensates for an underwhelming visual and aromatic presentation, but not enough to make me want to go back for a second.
Cheers!
