solid beer, a little old school with the maltier richer looking base, and with a familiar high alpha c hop complexion, but without anywhere near the bitterness of the previous generation, and this thing is dry and clean overall, almost presents like a pale ale, balanced in a nice way, well refined, and tidy like pretty much all the beer we had in here was, these guys are off to a great start. a little copper tone to this, lovely clarity, average white head from the faucet. the nose is light pine, generic citrus fruit, and slightly nutty grain, but there is a lightness to it, a cleansing sort of earthy minerality, this is bright and fresh and somewhat understated really. the flavor starts off with a hoppy punch but it wanes quickly it a more well rounded drink, biscuit and honey malt type character, a middle crystal vibe enriching it slightly, lighter than anticipated on the bitterness for the style, notes of cut pine bough, key lime, and wet grass at the end, but soft and then kind of early to dissipate overall, no yeast character, no oily slickness, no residual sugar lengthening it, so its almost missing something late, vacuous? no quite, but almost too abrupt. light and with average carbonation, this is good warmer weather ipa but lacking a little something texturally for me, fresh and well made though, unique in this style space for uncommon reasons...
