a unique hazy ipa here, done with kveik yeast, which it seems like everyone has taken too these days, but it works well in this ipa, a neat fruity dry hopped profile joins up with the estery yeast tones well, pear and white wine, green banana and gooseberry, lemongrass and mandarin orange, all real sympathetic and cohesive. the beer is frothy white headed, pretty starchy looking, and a little muted in luster, but its lively still and has a really fresh nose. i get a light tartness, plenty of citrus, and subtle pineapple and kiwi and green grape notes, giving it a unique tropical complexion. the yeast doesnt take over this and turn it into weird saison like it often does, more controlled here, perhaps fermented cooler than it often is, i was suspect about it in this ipa, but it works nicely. the body is fuller, protein rich, maybe some raw wheat in here, maybe even some oats, its big like that, beefy but filling, on the dry side and lightened by the bubbles and the obvious freshness. i like the hops, especially with this yeast, and think they did a nice job kind of style bending here. they had some pretty clever beer happening when i was in, and the food looked great, ill need to carve out a little more time for myself here when i am in bozeman next!
