From a growler, filled about twenty minutes ago.
Translucent amber, with one finger of ivory head, that leaves a thin ring , a tiny bit of surface sheeting, and a few spots of lacing. .
Smells of slightly-sweet bread, with a hint of fruitiness. Slight spiciness at first, that fades away with the head.
Taste is almost old-school IPA meets Brown Ale , with slight dried fruit (apple +pear) , brown bread /molasses/toffee, with a hint of citrus rind and rye spice at finish. Light bitterness - could use a bit more.
Feel is medium, smooth, with moderate very, very fine carbonation tingle. Light drying effect after finish.
Overall , not what I was expecting. Pleasant and easy-drinking , so not any trouble finishing this, but it probably should be labeled with a different style. Not sure what that would be. Maybe a new style? A rye IPA akin to Hop Rod Rye, or Wookie Jack, it surely isn't . Oh well, ... a new brewery still getting things dialed-in , so some.....er... adventures ;)..... are bound to happen. It's still enjoyable, once the mental adjustment is made, whatever this is. :)
