The Foxy Librarian is an enigma, you just have to experience it to understand. A healthy dose of rice in the malt bill keeps this beer in balance. The high alcohol content is hardly noticeable because of the complex interaction of grains, hops and yeast. Be careful with the librarian, it’s easy to love but might set your world on fire.

Below is the original 2024 review. 2025 was again a release of 500 wax capped bottles. I’d say this year‘s release is pretty similar, maybe I don’t like the hops quite as much. Also ABV has moved up to 11.

Dark Golden color with a nice creamy head. Good aroma of banana and cloves. Taste of phenols and pepper is stronger than I like, but very Belgian. Feel is smooth but the high ABV is hot. I got one of the 500 limited release wax capped bottles. It would be interesting to see how that taste smoothes out with age; this is very fresh. Maybe I should pick up another $20 750ml bottle? Overall, this was an interesting beer that was worth a try.
