truly one of the weirder beers ive had in a long time, and i respect the ambitious nature of the recipe as well as the use of a lot of apparently authentic ingredients, but the execution is a little rough, and this really didnt do it for me, although i suspect its the sort of thing that grows on you if you drink enough of it. a stronger cream ale base done with oats, then spiked with vanilla, lactose, and marshmallow fluff, along with actual circus peanuts candy, banana, and orange, sounds like too much but the concept is cool. its hazy orange beer without much head. its just weird to smell and drink, i seriously get a lot of the actual candy, and its the marshmallow element that dominates this, too sweet to be anything more than a novelty, but not totally disgusting either. some orange creamsicle vibes thanks to the orange and the vanilla together, and the banana is subtle enough to be interesting without being distracting. not sure i need the base beer to be this strong, but its not thick even with the sugar and the oats, and i like the attempt at a smooth texture here. dessert beer yeah, but its not just a new school gimmick either, this was clearly a stab at something cool, and some may love it. it was fun to sip on, intriguing to my wife and i, but ultimately not something i really want more than a little bit of, even if the idea and genuine nature of the attempt make it cool either way. i hope they revisit this in a much more gentle handed way, making a better base cream ale, and keeping the sugar way down, still potential in this line of thinking...
