A Red IPA is a great way to celebrate craft beer and our brewers have not held back on this one. Packing an outrageous variety of malts and hops into our latest seasonal brew – they’re notorious!
Using 6 different types of speciality malt and 5 different hop varieties this Red IPA will show the uninitiated what craft beer is all about and remind the converted why they love it so much!
The malt backbone sets the tone perfectly with biscuit, caramel and light roast flavours, but the real star is the hop blend that provides a bittering bite with citrus, pine and floral notes that linger on the palate.
40 IBU

On tap at Woolshed, Dublin.
Hazy amber read and tight off white cream. 4
Salted peanuts + imaginary orange peel. 3.5
Caramel, big whack of crystal, then dried rind, grass and oil… maybe. 3.5
Medium, chewy, fizzy. 4
Columbus, Chinook, Centennial among 5 hops.
Where are the hops? Vaguely aspirin IBU and hint of orange oil but fails down for any actual juicy aroma. Not sure if this is old or just cynically slapping a trendy “IPA” label on what’s basically an Irish Red. Even as fraft it’s too lively to session. Edgy only for non-drinkers. 3.5

500ml Bottle from Reilly's, Lisnaskea (£2.29):
Not a bad offering from O'Hara's at all here, probably not quite as good as some of there best beers but a decent one nonetheless. It proved to be quite a well-balanced offering from the Carlow brewery with just enough hop bitterness & fruits coming through to keep it interesting although the earthy flavours had more of a say with the taste overall. It was an easy one to drink & came through with a decent caramel taste as well; excellent stuff from the brewery & one I'd happily pick up again given the chance.

it's a fairly murky red, frothy head dissipates quickly, strong aroma of hops and malt, flavour is caramel, malt and hops with molasses, it's labelled as a red ipa, not a red ale, and it does have more hoppy sourness than a red ale, this is a nice beer, think you'll like it, I know I'll be having another.

Slightly hazy dark amber color with some beige head. Aroma has some sweet malts and earthy hops. Taste starts with toasted malts and a bit of caramel, earthy hops, gets quite bitter on the finish with grapefruit notes and some malt in the background. Medium body, quite soft mouthfeel but also well carbonated. Overall it's a decent amber ale with a good amount of carbonation and a nice malt backbone.
