375 ml corked & caged brown bottle, 20th Anniversary Limited Edition, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10.0%. Pitch black colour, moderate brown head. Strong aroma of roast malts, chocolate and coffee, hints of caramel, roast nuts and oak. Smooth mouthfeel and flavour. Excellent medium dry to lightly sweet flavour of roast malts, coffee and dark chocolate, hints of liquorice, caramel and roast nuts again.

375ml bottle from The Wine Store, Armagh, Ireland (£3.99):
Quite a nice beer overall without being a standout, although to be honest I was probably expecting more from this considering it's a 20th anniversary beer from the brewery. It opened with some nice sweetness thanks to the sugars as well as some dark fruits then later on some vanilla but it definitely wasn't the strongest tasting beer, something I wasn't expecting to say about one coming in at 10% really. It had quite a smooth, creamy feel with milky chocolate dominating the taste but it could have been darker & more complex. It's one that I'm still glad to have picked up & tried but I'm hoping the bottle I'm ageing turns out to be better than this one.

Black oily pour with a bit of mocha head. Aroma has some smooth whiskey, light liquorice and a hint of cola. Taste starts with light liquorice and a hint of whiskey, slightly on the sweet side at first but gets slightly roasty and bitter on the finish. Full bodied, low carbonation. Overall it's a quite smooth stout with a well hidden ABV but it lacks some complexity.
