This is a review of a pint on cask taken in the Bull & Castle, Dubliin, Ireland on 4th Aug 2010, though I have tasted this brew in the same location once or twice previously.
Appearence is of a slightly cloudy pale coloured brew with a fluffy white head, The head disappears over time and is gone by the halfway mark.
The smell is excellent, combining flowers and fruits. The hoppiness really promises great things.
As with another (the only other at this point in time!) reviewer, the taste lets it down slightly. It is a bit on the 'rough' side for me. Not all that much complexity to it. It is seriously bitter; comparing more to SN Torpedo than SNIPA. This makes it appealing to many, but I prefer the subtler side of hopping! This is the kind of pint, that, were you to have it as the first one of a session, your taste buds would need to recover as it is a little overpowering.
Well worth a pint or two; a very nice effort from the boys of Carlow Brewing Company.

On cask at the Bull & Castle.
Pours pale gold with a loose white head that rings. Outstanding pure skunk nose - like sniffing live hops flowers. Pear and caramel candy, with mild wood spice hop bitterness. Soft feel, light body, dry finish. More fruit as it warms.
Dry hopped, and you can sure smell it. Shame the hops scent is not matched by the taste. Still, easy drinking; I'd love if Carlow made this one permanent.
