A hazy yellow with a fluffy and creamy head. There were contrasting tastes here--delicate floral accents and a musky undertone that resembled the taste of a Weybacher barrell-aged brew (where'd that come from?). There's also a sharp citrus edge.

Although jarring, the odd mixture was interesting a reasonably enjoyable. The musky flavor could be dialed down to improve the brew, but for interest alone, give it a shot.

Like the previous reviews, I had this at Ludwig's in Philly.

I had this one in a ceramic mug at Ludwig's, so I couldn't get a great look at it's color, which seemed kind of orange to me. The head was quite large and creamy, though, and it stuck around.

There's not much of a smell. Little malt sweetness, some whiffs of alcohol, but not what you expect from the style.

Flavor just doesn't do much. It's not that there's a subtlety to it, there's just not much there. It's fairly watery with light lemon and apple flavors. The first sip had a bit of pepper in it, but nothing after that. A little bit of booze as it warms.

Overall: After I finished this, I said, "This wasn't very good" to the bartender, who replied, "No, it's really not." If you're hell-bent on trying every maibock you can, try it. Otherwise, you can do a lot better.

Lesser known of this brewery, and found at Ludwig’s in Philly. Lace in glass, metalic finish, sour and dry. Yellow appearance. Lemon and malty, nothing special, but worth having but its rarity. Its shwartzbier is readily found back home. Malt but harsh on palate.
