Bottle from the brewery. Served in a Bellwoods snifter.
A - White foam settles to a collar and partial cap, leaving behind minimal lace. Transparent golden body.
S - Lots of mango and melon character; very tropical and fruity, with lightly saccharine malt backdrop of dough and biscuit.
T - Taste has a bit zest to it, with leafy bitterness and citrus rind to go with the aforementioned tropical fruits. Not as much malt character here; more crackery. A bit understated compared to the aroma.
M - Medium-light body, with soft, pleasant carbonation. Dry, finish with lingering oily hops. Pleasantly refreshing on a hot day.
D - It's a solid pale ale. I'm not sold on the Summer and Bitter Gold hop combo; I thought IPA v.7 was also similarly so-so in the flavor profile. I like more balance between fruity and piney in my hoppy beers; if it's all fruit it tends to end up very muddled with the malt bill sometimes. Still, eminently drinkable; shared a bottle with Daniel at work no problem.
