Bottle from the shop. Served in my Kuhnhenn tulip.
A - Generous white foam slowly settles to a near-complete cap, thick collar, and splotchy lacing. Transparent golden body with tiny bubbles visible.
S - I don't know much about the Dr. Rudi hop (other than it used to be called "Super Alpha"), but this beer has a punchy nose of tropical fruit, citrus, and gooseberry. There's a crackery and bready malt backdrop, but it's pretty neutral in character and peripheral in intensity.
T - The flavor is also quite punchy, with high bitterness. I guess I shouldn't be surprised by the hop formerly known as Super Alpha. Intense, but not astringent. Again, heavy on tropical fruits, but with a bit more sugar cookie malt sweetness creeping in.
M - Smooth, easy drinking, with pleasant carbonation. Chewy texture, with an oily, lingering finish. No obvious alcohol.
D - Quite nice and a return to form for Burdock. One of the better IPAs they've put out recently. Happily consumed the entire 500ml bottle and would purchase again.
