Bottle: Poured a clear light yellow color ale with a large foamy head with OK retention and some lacing. Aroma of tart notes with some nice vinous notes is quite refreshing. Taste is also a nice mix of refreshing tart notes, nice vinous notes with some oak and Brett notes also apparent. Body is about average with good carbonation. Nice refreshing beer with good level of complexity.

Been a lot of hype around this and although it doesn't stand up to it.completely it is still an interesting and complex beer. Pairs very well with food and a nice bled of Saison and wine, although I have had as good if not better from barrel aging without the wine blending.

375ml bottle - wow, could they have made a more complicated and/or pretentious brew? Who do they think they are, The Bruery? I keed, I keed.
This beer pours a mostly clear, dark magenta-amber colour, with one skinny finger of weakly foamy, and pretty much just bubbly pale pink head, which leaves absolutely nothing in the way of lace anywhere near the glass as it quickly blows off.
It smells of overly funky yeast, musty cherries and raspberries, gritty and grainy wheat malt, some damp woodiness, and a hint of mixed peppercorn. The taste is grainy and crackery pale malt, a lesser spicy wheatiness, musty yeast, some muddled dark berry fruitiness, subtle vanilla-flecked oaken notes, some thankfully fading funkiness, and a growing estery black pepper character.
The carbonation is fairly meek in its quotidian frothiness, the body a so-so medium weight, and sort of smooth, as the spice and yeast elements don't seem to care much about propriety here. It finishes off-dry, the musty fruitiness carrying the lingering day.
Overall - this is certainly a complex barrel-aged offering, one where the base Saison gets more or less obfuscated, save the heady pepper essence, and the north of 16-proof booze is admittedly well-integrated. Very Canadian red wine-heavy, and if you know what that means, then you'll know what I mean. Approach with trepidation.
