At The Cookie Bar on Drouillard Rd. in nearby Windsor; on tap and chilled, 2oz. in a flight of five beers. Leading an outing of The Responsible Beer Drinking Club. My ninth beer from the Toronto, Ontario brewery, and sixth for 2025...

Pretty disappointed. Not sure how this is sour, it is a touch tart but no real acidity, and I also find the cherry flavour very artificial. Nice and dry though which is very refreshing.

355ml can - a 'sour Saison, with Ontario sour cherries'. So, sour?

This beer pours a hazy, medium salmon colour, with four fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and fairly fizzy pale pink head, which leaves little in the way of lace around the glass as it quickly evaporates.

It smells of mildly tart red cherries, gritty and grainy cereal malt, some old-World yeastiness, and very, very tame earthy, musty, and floral green hop bitters. The taste is grainy and crackery pale malt, a lesser soft wheatiness, weakly sour cherry juice, ephemeral earthy yeast, and more ghostly leafy, herbal, and floral noble hoppiness.

The carbonation is pretty subtle in its innocuous frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and mostly smooth, with nothing really going on here that might cause any sort of concern. It finishes trending dry, the meekly sour fruitiness gently showing us the door.

Overall - this is certainly a flavourful enough offering, but don't piss on my leg and tell me that it's raining. It is not sour, at least not to any appreciable degree. For 8 bucks a pop, I was expecting something a little more, well, aggressive from the cherries and/or souring agent. Anyways, yeah, it's drinkable, but disappointing at the same time.
