Whammy! Meet Dunk: our take on a German-style dark lager beer. Smooth, malty, & a little bit chocolatey, Dunk is the perfect “wow, it’s really fr**k*ng cold outside and I just want to drink some lager” beer.
Brewed with primo German malts it has a pinch of body that is different from sweetness (maltiness is different than sweetness

Poured 355ml can into a pilsner glass. A big three finger fine tan head on a clear, very dark reddish brown. Excellent head retention. Sticks around to the end. Sheets of fine lacing.
Sweet malt smells. Tastes of roasted malts. Malt forward. The initial sweetness gives way to a very mild, almost imperceptible hop finish.
A fairly light body. Good carbonation. Overall a solid high quality Munich Dunkel.

Cold 355ml can poured into a half-pint mustard mug. Packaged 21 May, 2025. 4.6% abv
Beautiful nearly opaque cola colour. A tan-coloured loose head forms for a brief moment, and then fades away to nothing.
The smell is mainly nuts, chocolate, and faint German style malt. Not especially pungent.
The taste is pretty sweet. Nutty roasted malts give way to a chocolatey cocoa sweetness that leaves an aftertaste. The feel is fairly light for a lager this dark and rich, but still full and with a little chew to it.
Overall, I am really enjoying this beer. I could see the lingering cocoa aftertaste putting some people off, but I'm okay with that - reminds me that I'm drinking a beer with some quality/quantity of ingredients. It kind of reminds me of the Hofbrau Hause, for reference. Not a style that we see too often, but when it's like this, it goes down easily with lots of interesting flavours. I would definitely buy this again if I was in the neighborhood.
