L: Light golden amber colour, one-finger head, some lacing
S: Ice cream wafers, some skunkiness, biscuit malts
T: Strong vanilla, almost butterscotch flavour, some biscuit
F: The off flavour takes away much of a resfreshment quality, carbonation works quite well

bottled in clear glass
Pours golden with thin white head. Aroma more hops than malt - some hay, a light citrus and quite yeasty. Taste fairly flat and bland.

Light golden colour with minimal white lacing in lieu of a head, there is also some bubbles rising too.
Light grassy hops and a touch of malts along with a sweet, syrup like aroma and some floral notes at the end.
Earthy malts and a citrus aroma coupled with some light grassy hops and a touch of bitterness. There is some bread and sugar to the taste as well.
Medium in body and with mild carbonation and a sticky sweet feel to it that is for the most part a smooth beer with a bitter finish.
A pretty average ale here and not all that exciting although still drinkable if a bit disappointing. There was a nice balance of malts and hops but the lack of variety in the taste was the problem for me.

A 500ml clear glass bottle with a BB of July 2012. Purchased as part of Sainsbury's beer festival. Described on the label as a fruity golden ale.
Poured into a Guinness pint glass. A clear golden-amber colour with plentiful carbonation. Forms a decent head of creamy white foam that remains for a minute or so before collapsing to a thin surface layer. Aroma of light malt with yeasty esters and stewed hops/veg.
Tastes of light malt with a mild bitterness. Notes of yeast esters, stewed hops and overcooked veg. Also a strange note that's hard to pin down - possibly a fruity yeast flavour. Bitterness has a harsh quality. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, but watery. Slightly astringent. Aftertaste of yeast and bitter stewed hops.
Not brilliant. Bland and uninteresting, with some harsh notes. Not sure how Holt thought that this might win a competition; I reckon it's even worse than dull macro ales. Not worth your time or money - avoid.

Bottle #6 of the Sainsburys Beer Hunt 2011 poured from a clear 500ml bottle into a Youngs straight pint glass.
Appears a very golden colour, head is white and disappears immediately.
Smell is pretty much limited to a familiar citrusy fresh smell of hops.
Taste is alright, fairly hoppy and balanced well, almost too well leaving you feeling pretty unimpressed.
Overall it's a good beer as I see it as the kind of beer you can drink quite a few pints of as a good alternative to lager as it's pretty refreshing and would go well as a drink with any food.

One of 16 bottled beers in the 2011 Sainsbury's Supermarket Beer Challange.
Clear 500ml bottle, two owls on a small golden front label. The beer was poured into a UK pint sleeve. I knew the beer was a clear golden colour, the head that came was white, small and struggled to stay the distance.
The aroma was of grassy hops with maybe some citrus esters easing through as the beer warmed.
No great flavours to pontificate about, just a boring blend of hops and malts, this isn't going to win anything.
Don't like slagging off small breweries, but this is a poor attempt for a challange against 15 other brewes.
