I had this beer on-tap in a snifter at the brewery.
Appearance: totally black with a finger of frothy tan foam. Quite nice.
Smell: rich and sweet aroma; nicely fruity with some licorice character. The barrel is really subtle, which I like.
Taste: rich with dark fruit, molasses and licorice elements. Complex and interesting, and, like in the aroma, the barrel is not overdone.
Mouthfeel: medium rich body with a moderate carbonation and decent creaminess.
Overall: a nice, complex and interesting beer. A bit sweet, but still good.
