I had this beer on-tap in a snifter at the brewery.
Appearance: black hue with a finger of frothy tan foam. Quite attractive.
Smell: lightly sweet, malty and yeasty without much barrel character.
Taste: sweetish and a bit roasty with a rather yeasty element. There's a bit of vegetal hop character but not a lot of barrel here, either.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a big carbonation and a good creaminess.
Overall: a decent enough black ale, but it doesn't really deliver on the barrel promise.
