Reviewed on release date. Pint pour at the brewery. It's a murky, muddy orange color with a half finger of creamy, bright white head and long-lasting swirls of lacing. The smell is fragrant and fruity with notes of tangerine, pineapple, melon, berry, and soft floral hops. Wow, this is good! Lots of lemon, tangerine, peach, ripe melon, and red berry. There is a slight hint of pine sap but a sharp bitterness from the Simcoe - particularly at the finish. It's well-balanced and flavorful. The mouth feel is nicely viscous with appropriate carbonation and you can feel the 8.5% ABV. Overall, Higher is an outstanding DIPA. Autodidact has really made the most out of a fairly basic hop bill.
