Canned on 10/17/2024. Poured into a Willi Becher glass. It has a true New England appearance: dense, turbid, dirty tangerine in color with a big cap of bright white, frothy foam and lots of thick, clinging lacing. The fruity, aromatic nose includes lemon, lime, sweet, tropical fruit, peach, and a whiff of white wine. The flavor is big, bold, and New Zealand inspired. It leads with tart lemon, grapefruit, and a dash of white wine. But as it warms a bit it also sweetens with notes of peach, red berry, and passion fruit, along with a hint of pine sap. While I'm not sure this ale is oated there is also a creamy sweetness in the background and a solid malt base. The flavors are very well-balanced. There is a touch of hop burn at the finish which should mellow out in the next week or so. The mouth feel is luxuriously thick and creamy with a moderate level of carbonation, and it drinks below its 8.5% ABV. Overall, The Hark's Wings is another seriously good NEIPA from Autodidact, which excels at the style. I don't think any other New Jersey brewery is consistently brewing this style better than Auto.
