Collaboration with Other Half Brewing Company.

We beefed up our usual grist base a bit for a rich full bodied beer that drinks super smooth and creates a perfect stage for a beautifully oil-rich hop medley. El Dorado Lupomax takes center stage with waves of sweet ripened mangos, honeyed melon, and sweet tangerine with the Vera, Citra, and Simcoe hops following up to push those notes out further and round it all out with a touch of dankness.

Reviewed 2 days after canning. Poured into a Willi Becher glass. It pours an opaque, bright orange-lemon color with a very large, fluffy, ecru head and extensive, thick lacing with excellent retention. The fragrant smell includes lemon, watermelon, red berry, and a whiff of pineapple. This is tasty! A sophisticated balance of tart citrus, pine resin, berry, watermelon, pineapple, Skittles, and a touch of earthy spice. The El Dorado hops really shine and the Simcoe adds good residual bitterness in the after taste. The ale has a fairly lite feel with pleasant carbonation, and it tastes so good that I barely notice the 8% ABV. It doesn't have the thickness I associate with Other Half's DIPAs. Overall, this first collaboration between Autodidact and Other Half is a huge success. This is a delicious ale - an inspired recipe that is well-executed by two fine brewers.
