Pint pour on draught at the brewery. One week after release. Served in a snulip glass. Its color is a dirty lemon-yellow and it sports a full finger of foamy, milk-white head and spotty, soapy lacing. The smell is strongly southern hemisphere with notes of grapefruit, lemon, white wine, and a whiff of tropical fruit. Its taste is dominated by grapefruit pith. The tropical fruit sweetness is deep in the background. There is biting bitterness throughout and some hop burn at the finish. The taste is one-dimensional. This ale is moderate in body and carbonation and the 8.5% ABV gives it good substance. Overall, I like this one less than Auto's other recent southern hemisphere-hopped hazies. It doesn't have the same depth of flavor. That said, it is hard for Autodidact to competed against itself and not every IPA will be stellar.
