A bed of white wheat and oats lay a lush foundation for two of our favorite hops to coalesce and intensify. Motueka and Nelson deliver waves of lime zest, tropical fruit mélange, and ambrosial orange sorbet.

On draught at the brewery. It is a dense, opaque, pastel yellow with a modest, frothy head and lots of soapy lacing. The smell is fragrant with notes of lemon, lime, white wine, and a whiff of pineapple. Its taste is surprisingly tart with lots of lemon and lime zest over a slightly sweet malt base that includes wheat and oats. While I can detect the Nelson hops, they are soft and play a complimentary role. It is fairly bitter throughout and there is a strong hop burn at the finish which should mellow over time. The mouth feel is quite lite for the 8.5% ABV. It drinks easily except for the fact that it is fairly hot. Overall, Gasping Dust is another fine hazy from Autodidact which could very well improve in a week or so.
