Pint pour on draught at the brewery. Served in a snulip glass. It's an attractive pour: dense, pastel lemon-yellow with a full finger of fluffy, milk-white foam and lots of thick, soapy lacing. I like the smell, which features lemon, pineapple, tangerine, white wine, and grass. Sadly, the promise of the smell isn't fulfilled in the taste. I don't fully understand the various forms of Nelson Sauvin hops used in this beer but the earthy, grassy, dank hop flavor overwhelms the tart lemon peel and grapefruit rind, and the modest sweeter tropical notes, and leaves it dank and a bit one-dimensional. There is a bit of hop burn at the finish. The mouth feel is thick, plush, and creamy with moderate carbonation, and the 8.5% ABV is not distracting. Overall, I like everything about Famine except its taste. I'm not knowledgeable about Nelson Hop Kief but I'm not a fan either.
