Reviewed on day after release. Pint pour on draught at the brewery. Served in a snulip glass. It pours a dense, turbid, pastel yellow color with a modest, milky white cap and lacing. The smell is robust and fragrant with lemon, lime, grapefruit, and stone fruit. Its taste follows with lemon, lime, grapefruit, berry, and strong black pepper and spicy, earthy notes. There is significant hop burn at the finish. This ale has a good, thick, mouthfeel with appropriate carbonation, and the 8.5% ABV gives it good substance. Overall, Gravel Pit may be a but green and will mellow with time but the pepper and hop burn are a bit off-putting. I didn't taste the Nectaron hops.
