Popped into this joint before catching my flight out of town, it was my 'local' during my stay in Lotusland...
This pint arrived as I was gawking at the footy on the telly, and appeared a medium orange amber colour, with a thin white head, that left decent thin lacing. The aroma was of grapefruit citrus hops and caramel. The taste started with bitter grapefruit and orange, and was balanced with a light malt body. The average carbonation made this a easy drinker. It did have a bit of an overly bitter resinous aftertaste, and was a somewhat one-sided brew, but I could see it as a good session ale for a hophead. Wish I'd had more time and company to find out...

At the brewpub downtown. Foamy, and very amber colour (second half pint was less so). C hop aroma, this is hoppy. Great cask with good bitterness. Very creamy mouthfeel and appearance, some lace. Cask is the way to go as this batch is a better than average IPA anywhere anytime.

A nice suprise at this brewpub. Most of the standard canadian offerings around the Pubs in BC were just not good beer.
A- This pour was nice coppery amber. Head was a mixture of creaminess and bigeer bubble throughout. Okay retention. decent lace.
S-Citrus hops and green hops, carmel and biscuit malt. Suprising hoppy armoa.
T-lemony citrus hops abound, green hop bitterness is present as well. There is a malt backbone of caramel and biscuit but it does not balance out the hops. Linger bitter lemon finish. I like it.
M-Light to medium body. Carbonation was spot for the other qualities of this beer.
D-I had four at this sitting. Need i say more?

A - Clear orange with a solid, long lasting head and lacing.
S - Citrus with a slight soapiness.
T - Solid grapefruit flavour and a equally solid bitter finish. Some toastiness comes out near the finish.
M - Full bodied.
D - A decent brew but not outstanding. Could be a bit fresher in the hop flavour/aroma.

A decent IPA. Looks a little bit too pale, but smells like a classic IPA. Malt undertones, with a good dose of hops.
The taste is a good blend of malt and hops, but is fairly straight forward. There are some citrus hints to it, but it seems rather too tame to be one of the great BC IPAs. Its very good, but still a step below Old Yale or Philip's.
Provides a good companion to a meal, and the body is well done.

Mid September 2005. Had at the Yaletown Brewery in Vancouver, BC.
Presentation- via samplers from the tap.
Appearance- Golden-amber pour with a 1/2 creamy head and light lace.
Smell- Hefty fruit bitterness in the nose.
Taste- Pretty damn bitter IPA here. Light lemon hop flavor. Very light malt. Bit unbalanced.
Mouthfeel- Next to nil in the carbonation department. Smooth....
Drinkability- I've had better, but worth a try. A bit more malt would have made a big difference.

I had lunch with the brewer and he mentioned that the IPA was redone with new hops. Well I had a pint to retaste this beer which I slammed last Summer. Well lo and behold this is now a decent fruity IPA which a higher IBU count and a much better finish. I will have to get Malto back down here to sample the beers again.

Ok - once I got past the name, it was time to test the brew. Mine was served at cellar temperature, allowing the flavors to mix nicely and yield a pleasant, albeit faint, bouquet.
It was unusually hot in BC, so at first sip, the slightly warmer beer was not as refreshing as I'd have liked, and temperature-wise seemed a little warmer than cellar. Amber in color, without much of a head to speak of, the mouthfeel was a little thin for my taste, and lacked that hoppy kick.
Overall a tolerable brew - at least worth a try as part of a sampler - though I wouldn't go as far as to say it's quaffable. Drink it too deeply, and you may find more cons than pros with this one.
