Dark brown color with light shining through the center. Modest bar poured head (two pours required). Good webby lace on the glass.
There are elements of burnt wood on the initial smell. I initially thought this might be a rausch beer.
Darker malt start. The smokiness I smelled is present but subdued on the tongue. Dry but empty flavored swallow. The aftertaste is of nearly burnt barley and warming alcohol. The body is on the light side and the carbonation is neutral.
