The rich mahogany hue of the Nut Brown is the first thing you will notice. You’ll find subtle hints of both chocolate & coffee. We delicately blend chocolate & caramel malts with four others to make this flavorful, easy drinking beer. The malt character will appeal to those looking for a moderate dark ale, but the smoothness is what will surprise all.

Pours a lovely mahogany with a ruby hue. A fat creamy head of tan foam that fell fast but I tasted some and it was darn creamy. Clear and beautiful beer. Nose is roast, toast a bit of fruit and a bit of coffee. A hint of nuttiness and toffee that comes forward as the beer warms. Taste is mild, roast with an almost burnt edge to it and a slight bitterness. Toast that is breaddy but the breaddiness does not become heavy. Smooth coffee flavor and a hoppy bitterness on the tongue but it has no real flavor if you know what I mean.. Light nutty flavor at first that turns to toffee and nuts as it warms. Easy drinking good character. There is an overall fruity backnote to this beer that I found lovely. Finishes with a malty sweetness to bring it home and a bit of slickness form the medium mouthfeel.
Best I have had of this beer in quite a while. Good job Ithaca.

On tap at Nickels Pit BBQ in Watkins Glen, NY.
This one pours a dark golden brown color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells, well, nutty, with some bready and caramelly malt.
This isn’t anything outstanding or earth-shattering, but it’s a nut brown ale, it’s never going to be. It feels pretty classically on the nose for the style, with a touch of nuttiness and some light earthy bitterness, and a nice caramelly backbone.
This is light bodied, but creamy, and very drinkable.
I can’t believe this is my first time having this one, it feels like an old timey Ithaca classic.

Best brown i've had in a while. Smooth and drinkable. Haven't picked up the hops or much bitterness yet maybe because this one is really cold. True to style. You can taste the nuttiness just a basic brown done well. Cheers!

Dark, mahogany color. Medium-sized, beige head. The aroma of malt, roasted caramel, biscuits, and nuts. Malty taste with notes of roasted caramel and nuts. Medium body, caramel aftertaste.

I tried this beer off the tapper at Ithaca Beer Co's Cornell location as part of a four sample flight. It poured a clear dark amber with off white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had subtle malt and grain notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with semi sweet dark malt base and nut highlights. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

Appearance" Deep copper, small beige head, light lacing.
Aroma: Chocolate and caramel stand out. Where is the nuttiness from the name?
Taste: Earthy with roasted malts laying the groundwork for what the nose prepared the palate for.
Mouthfeel: Soft and smooth. A bit of nuttiness shows up in the aftertaste. Modestly carbonated.
Overall: Enjoyable on a cool evening paired with roast beef.

L: Deep, dark brown with a mahogany tinge around the edges and a tan short lived head that quickly dissolves into islands.
S: light aromas of toasted malts and chocolate with a hint of ground walnuts
T: follows the smell with slightly sweet toasted malts, some coffee, a little dark chocolate and a bit of roasted nuts (sometimes peanut, sometimes almonds) with some smooth hoppy bitterness
F: a little sweet at the front and a little bitter at the end, little carbonation giving a smooth swallow and a dry, pleasantly bitter aftertaste
O: a very nice brown ale. The flavors are well balanced giving it a clean refreshing taste

I love Ithaca, Cornell, and the Finger Lakes, so had high expectations. Beer had a nice smell so I was expecting a good taste. Yes, there was some chocolate and caramel, but overall on the sour side with a slightly bitter aftertaste. I'm not crazy about Newcastle Brown Ale, but I think I prefer it to this. Ah, well.
