Served from a 33 cl bottle bought in Germany.

A - A dark brown beer, less than black in color. Murky when held up to light. Off-white head fades quickly to just a ring. Some lacing. Bottle conditioned with a thick, compact yeast sediment.

S - Aromas are warm and sweet malt and alcohol initially, but then gain a harsh smoky note that is very out-of-place. No sense of wheat beer characteristics. No hops.

T - Initially very sweet with barely recognizable malt. Moderate hops bitterness mid-palate cuts through sweetness briefly. Finish dries slightly. Throughout, there are no distinguishable flavors, just overriding sweetness, with a harsh smoky chemical flavor exactly like the 16% lager they call the world's strongest.

M - Very thick body. Carbonation is low. Moderate hops bitterness
adds to strong alcohol burn. Cloying sweetness in end and aftertaste.

O - This beer is almost indistinguishable from the 16% lager from the same company. I have to wonder if the same yeast is used. I can't find any indication this is a wheat beer. There is a smoky, woody, flavor that detracts from any good characteristics.

I had to buy this beer when I saw that it boasted it was the strongest wheat beer in the world that still met German purity laws. It cost me close to 14 Euro but it was worth it. This beer has an aroma that is smoky and has a strong sweet smell of brunt malt. Even with a hard pour there was not much head and what head it had disappeared quick. The lace was a thin line of tan head. The taste is not like any wheat beer that I have ever drank before. It is like a dunkel, eisbock rauch beer rolled in to one. It is also scotch like too. The smokiness hits you first then it is like a double bock. There is not much fizz to the body. It is slick, a bit creamy and definitely full. It is a very warm feeling. Prepare your whole body to be warm. This beer was great if you keep an open mind.

Not much to this beer except for the ABV. Pours dark reddish brown, almost no head, aroma of raisins and dried fruit, the alcohol is even apparent in the nose. Taste is sweet, prunes, dark chocolate, rye bread. Slight lingering sweetness, and evident alcohol burn. Not as bad as I was prepared for....
