Inspired by Belgian Saison and German Berliner Weisse; a lightly hoppy ale with a clean sourness, spiced with refreshing lime zest, juice and fruit.

I enjoyed this on tap at Forest & Main, served chilled in a goblet.

The color is deep golden with light haze and thick white head with light lace and fine bead, the ale has good head retention. The smell provides plenty of tropical and lots of floral aroma from the hops with lime zest noticeable in the smell -it is prominently integrated with light tangy yeast aroma. The feel is tangy and has lots of juicy textures both of hops with light resins and mild yeast accent with slight malt sweetness and low acidity.

The flavor has a tangy quality with lots of lime which also adds to the slight floral flavor with zesty citrus and tangy element from wheat with pretty light sour flavor in general, but the mix of zest and yeast is very enjoyable. Lovely lime twist on the style -blend of saison/berliner I suppose which is very drinkable.

64oz growler poured into a Cantillon lambic glass

Listed on BA as a Berliner, but was described to me by the bartender as a young sour saison.

Appearance: Pours a golden yellow with 1 finger of a white head that dissipates to a thin cap and collar. Body is moderately hazy with little visible carbonation.

Smell: Lime, floral, coriander, lime, white pepper, slight grassiness and did I mention lime?

Taste: Light to moderate clean sourness accompanied by flavors similar to the aroma. Lots of lime as well as, a graham cracker like maltiness. This tastes almost like liquid key lime pie. Beyond those initial notes there's definitely a saison underneath, as there's a distinctive spicy saison yeast character that comes through in the finish and aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Light/medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel and moderate, fine carbonation. Drinkability is insanely high.

Overall: Forest and Main makes a lot of great beers, and this is definitely one of my top 1-3.

Appearance: Arrives with a hazy amber color capped by an inch of foam; nice amount of lacing, too

Smell: Sour fruit with a strong lime aspect

Taste: Opens like a Berliner Weisse, with the bready wheat elements conjoined with fruity tartness; by mid-palate, the lime peel takes over, adding a citric edge that lingers into the finish

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with moderate carbonation

Overall: More Berliner Weisse than Saison, I find the lime peel a real differentiator
