Pours a clear, dark amber color that approaches brown, with a thin finger of soupy, light tan head. Modest retention and decent lacing.

Smokey aroma with a little bread and ginger beneath.

Light breadiness in the taste quickly gives way to smoke and ash. Just a hint of orange sweetness mid-palate, but it’s very modest. Dry in the finish, with a little earthy bitterness showing through the smoke.

Relatively light bodied with moderate carbonation.

I’m not a big fan of smoke, but decided to roll the dice with this one anyhow. In the end, it’s too smokey for my taste. It’s clear that there is some depth behind that, though. People more tolerant of smokiness should enjoy it.
