A lovely little oatmeal stout brewed with barley from @DeerCreekMalthouse and an assortment of British roasted and specialty malts. Hopped with Fuggles, just Fuggles, because that’s all you need. Notes of fresh iced black coffee, roasted chicory, nearly burnt toast, brownies baking, some raisins and dried cherry, rock squares, and someone named Samuel.

Pours a very dark, ruddy brown that approaches black. Two fingers of dark khaki head on the border between rocky and foamy. Webbed lacing.
Roasted malts, carbon dioxide, light coffee, light chocolate and a hint of cherry in the nose.
The same roasted malt flavors show in the taste with an intense, but watered down, bitterness in the finish, with definite coffee and wood and hints of pine.
Medium bodied and creamy for back in the day, but thin feeling for 2021. Tight carbonation.
There’s something like chicory going on in this beverage — wood bark coffee. There’s also an intensity to the bitterness that leaves me dissatisfied that it’s not featured more. Not my favorite small stout from these guys, but only because they’re usually so masterful at it.
