A delightful hoppy Pub Ale. Brewed with British Golden Promise and hopped with lots of American Strata. It has notes of citrus marmalade on fresh biscuits, orange meringue, classic British malt flavors, and an ethereally balanced finish. The kind of beautifully simple beer we love so much.

16oz can purchased from the brewery as part of a mixed four-pack for $5. I'm not sure when this was released exactly. I do think that this has some age on it but hopefully it holds up alright.

Look: It has a clear, pale light gold color. There was two fingers of off-white rocky head that gradually crumbled. Carbonation rising up the glass at a decent clip.

Smell: It has a nice light citrus aroma along with a bit of pine and some grassiness. I get mostly lemon notes along with a bit of papaya and some mango and melon. Also kumquat. Smells nice.

Taste: Very tasty. I can really appreciate the drinkability and balance in this beer. Up front, it's very clean, light, a bit fruity, and refreshing. There's a nice orange marmalade flavor up front and on the finish. The finish has a significant amount of orange peel bitterness and dryness that lingers for a while and works well because it is not overpowering and helps to contrast the lightness up front. I get a bit of chewable vitamin flavors, but I am pinning that on me because I've been sitting on this can for too long.

Feel: It's light to medium bodied. Considering that it's only 4.5% ABV, it's holding up pretty well. The mouthfeel has a bit of creaminess up front, and it finishes crisp and dry.

Overall: Apart from the use of Strata hops and the fact that I know this is brewed by Forest and Main, this beer is very British in character. This beer is a bit of a throwback to me (again, except for the Strata) and I could see a British brewery like Fuller's making something like this...or perhaps Fuller's inspired F&M to brew this beer. There's this weird papaya/melon/chalky kind of note that I often get with Strata-hopped beers that I am not the biggest fan of. Nonetheless, I really like this beer. Cheers!

On cask at Forest & Main Brewing in Ambler, PA.

This one a light orange-ish color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like dried orange peel, marmalade, bready and biscuity malt, and some light spice.

This presents beautifully on cask, but that’s expected from a brewery that really excels at that sort of thing. It’s biscuity, toasty, and with just the right amount of sweetness. There’s a touch of hop spice and a really pleasant dried orange/lemonish flavor that’s really tasty.

This is pretty creamy, and very drinkable, with a long smooth finish.

I had to check this place out, because basically nowhere in America is making great British styles and having them on cask at their pub. I love it!
