Pours a dark cola brown color. Dark enough to be essentially opaque. Thick khaki colored head forms on the head, lingers for a bit, then slowly dissipates Leaving just a ring of foam along the outside of the beer. Aroma has notes of nutty malts, Pumpernickel bread, a light spiciness, a touch of oak and a slight hint of molasses.

Taste follows the nose with notes of nutty malts, pumpernickel, oak, with a prominent spiciness with notes of grass and earthy herbs. I was honestly surprised at the spicy bitterness from this one. Feel Is light, easy drinking, Moderate carbonation.

Overall a nice English dark mild.

Medium brown on the pour, but settles into a deeper shade in the glass. A bit of light gets through, but not much. Decent amount of loosely formed brown-ish head with solid retention. Aroma is malts and light roast. Taste follows the nose, with the roasted notes a little more prominent. Very light and easy drinking. Quite tasty for 3.3%.

Thanks to Roy_Hobbs for this one as part of NBS BIF #15, 16oz can (no date) poured into 14oz teku. Poured a very dark brown, almost black color with an inch of tan head that had low-moderate retention and very light lacing.

The aroma was solidly malty, with a notable roast aspect, almost Porter-ish, with just some very light floral hops. No real oak from the foeder. Fairly similar on the tongue, solid roast, earthy grains, and very light hops.

The body was light-medium, smooth, had good carb, and a medium finish that dried out nicely after a moment.

Drinkability was very nice, certainly you could have several of these during a session.

Overall, this came across more as a lighter bodied Porter, but was still a nice brew. Worth trying if you see it.

Yet another March Mildness beer from Forest & Main. I know the month is over, but I’m still happy to ride out the beer I got from my trip there a few weeks ago for as long as I can. I enjoyed the regular Mild quite a bit, but let’s see how a foeder treatment changes things

Pours an opaque chestnut brown with a finger of light tan head that fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing

This one is super toasty in the nose, but the herbal quality still remains. I’m picking up on aromas of pumpernickel, rye toast, toffee, herbal hops, lightly toasted oak, and light cocoa powder

This one is honestly a bit of a letdown in taste, feeling a bit out of balance. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting black tea, pumpernickel toast, herbal hops, and light raisin. The swallow brings notes of black tea, herbal hops, toffee, black pepper, and pumpernickel toast

A medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a crisp and dry beer. Finishes mostly dry, but unfortunately the taste negatively affects the mouthfeel

This one wasn’t exactly bad, but it just didn’t do it for me. Like I said, it’s far too herbal whereas the normal one was quite balanced. Maybe it’ll be better after some time sitting
