When I was in Philly last month I had planned on taking the drive out to Ambler to hit the pub again. I had only been once but that spot was awesome and the beer was phenomenal. Apparently they have a location in Philly proper now so we went there instead where I came home with this and a few other beers. I was a huge fan pf their Baltic Porter from my first trip, let’s see how they handle a Robust one
Pours a deep reddish brown with 3 fingers of creamy medium brown head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing
The nose presents as roasty and fruity, this seems like it’ll be right up my alley. I’m picking up on aromas of burnt coffee, red grape, biscuity malt, black pepper, cocoa powder, black cherry, leafy hops, and a touch of licorice
The fruity side of things disappears a bit in taste but this is still damn good. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting milk chocolate, biscuity malt, earthy hops, licorice, black pepper, cherry pit, and black tea. The swallow brings notes of cacao nib, burnt coffee, leafy hops, black cherry, toffee, and light honey
A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer. Finishes slick and coats the mouth a bit
Well it doesn’t reach the heights of their Baltic, but it’s still a great Porter nonetheless

Poured chilled into a 16oz pint glass. Brief dark khaki 1-finger head that receded. Dark brown with some lacing on the glass.
Aroma is roasty.
Taste is roasty and smoky. Fair amount of bittering from the dark grains. Some hops evident but faint.
Mouthfeel is medium. Good amount of carbonation. Pillowy and smooth, crisp.
Overall a really good porter. Good amount of dark malt for the style. Would definitely get this one again.
