On tap at Albany Ale and Oyster in Albany, NY.

This one pours a golden brown color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like bitter roast, caramelly and bready malt, and just a touch of floral hop character.

I love seeing stuff like this on tap. Forest and Main has completely nailed the style, in my mind, as there’s just a touch of bitter and floral hop character, a nice roast note, some toasted and just lightly sweet breadiness, and just a touch of orange marmalade.

This is light bodied, but still feels full and more-ish, with a great drinkability.

I really need to try more from this brewery.

Pours a dirty cloudy, opaque brown color. Thick frothy off white head forms on the beer, lingers a moment, then dissipates. Aroma has notes of malts, light and earthy, with slight nutty and grassy notes.

Taste follows the nose with notes of nutty bready malts. Earthy hops come through providing a light bitterness. Really nice easy drinking profile. Feel is medium bodied, smooth, with moderate carbonation.

Overall a very nice English bitter.

Thanks to Roy_Hobbs for this one, from his second NBS BIF #15 assault. 16oz can (no apparent date) poured into 16oz tulip. Poured a muddy and turbid dark brown color with about 2/3 inch of khaki head that low-moderate retention and very light lacing.

The aroma was, as expected, light, earthy malts and some equally earthy, and floral, hops. Similar on the tongue, with just a bit of hop bitterness added in, especially at the back of the palate. A slight touch of leather was also present.

The body was the light and smooth of the style, with a medium-sweet finish.

Drinkability was very good, easy to picture ones self in a British pub, throwing darts with the locals, during a nice session with this brew.

Overall, a solid and enjoyable brew. Worth trying if you see it.

I really wanna make what I got from Forest & Main last, but everything so far has been so delicious that I can’t stop drinking them! Turning to a very traditional style for this one, we get their take on an English Bitter. Let’s see what they do with it

Pours a murky orange brown with a finger of off white head that fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing

The nose is very herbal, quite similar to tea. I’m picking up on aromas of toffee, white bread, black tea, earthy hops, and light toast

It’s similar in taste and quite simple as well. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting crackery malt, toast, green tea, general stone fruit, and floral hops. The swallow brings notes of black tea, dark toast, earthy hops, toffee, and light orange zest

A light medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a thin beer. Finishes neutral and herbal

This is a serviceable beer, but even for the style it’s a bit too subdued. It would probably be a good food beer

Pours a murky, ruddy brown with a fat finger of tan head that dissipates unevenly and leaves soap scum lacing.

Rich malt syrup underneath roasted malts in the nose.

The toasted malts shine in the taste, with the more syrupy touches of cherry and toffee underneath creating a fantastic backbone. A little cocoa, a little walnut. Earthy, tea-like bitterness in the finish that lingers in the aftertaste.

Creamy feel with soft, persistent carbonation.

Excellent beer. Reviewed from the can, but tastes and looks even better on cask.

Pours a beautiful brown color with a tan head. Bready malts and toffee on the nose, as well as a bit of stone fruit.

The toffee and bready malt flavors are most prominent on the taste as expected, but the stone fruit flavor is a nice complement for balance. This is a really nice example of the style, IMHO.
