And we continue on with the LIF box from Snaotheus. This one sounds pretty interesting, a Wild Ale with Zinfandel grapes based on a Piquette wine. Isn’t that basically what lower abv Wild Ales with wine grapes are anyways? Regardless, it sounds great. Let’s dive right in
Pours a cloudy reddish brown with 2 fingers of off white head that fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing
The nose definitely has a bright tartness to it, but it’s also rather gentle. I’m picking up on aromas of red wine vinegar, apple skin, bready malt, sweet honey, lemon zest, brown sugar, and sharp oak
Things get a bit sweeter in taste, but there’s still a decent bite to it. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting tart red grape, lemon zest, apple skin, smooth oak, light leather, and toffee. The swallow brings notes of red grape, pear skin, sweet honey, bready malt, brown sugar, toffee, and light oak
A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a smooth yet sharp beer. Finishes mostly dry and refreshing but the sweetness holds it back a bit
This one is damn solid. It probably would’ve been better a little fresher but still great now
