375 mL bottle poured into a snifter.
Appearance - Murky amber body. Small white head with big bubbles.
Smell - Kinda oxidized smelling. A little cardboardy. Very woody. Lots of barrel character, but some mild cognac. Lots of deep caramel and brown sugar.
Taste - Kinda hoppy. Oxidized again. This has a bit of sweetness from the oxidation. Lots of caramel. Kinda nutty. Again, a lot of barrel but not a ton of cognac.
Mouthfeel - Medium heavy. Well carbonated.
Overall - Blah. Boozy and not very flavorful.

big thanks to rathakem for yet another block 15 treat. enjoyed from a b15 snifter.
a - brew pours a cloudy mahogany with a finger of froth that dissipates to nothing leaving no lace on the glass.
s - nose is caramel, toffee, all the english barleywine usual suspects. no real hop at all.
t/m/o - i let it sit a bit to open up before drinking and the flavors that really popped were centered around candied toasted malts. big toffee heath bar. caramel dreams. really easy drinking...little bit of heat, but an extremely well executed barleywine. not sure if this is supposed to be labeled an american barleywine, but this has no hop and is all about english barleywine...but what do i know? i know that i really enjoyed this beverage.
