This special variation of Super Nebula was brewed with organic maple syrup, matured in Four Roses bourbon barrels, and then conditioned on organic direct trade Tanzanian cocoa nibs and coffee from Bespoken Coffee Roasters that was aged in freshly-emptied Super Nebula Barrels prior to roasting.

A pitch black body completely absent of light is crowned by a silky smooth and creamy dark tanned froth. Though it leaves only a thin coverage and little lace, a milky way of beautiful swirls from khaki to caramel rest on top
Freshly splintered oak and spent dark roast coffee grounds impress on the nose first before a blend of cinnamon and nutmeg like spice. Semi sweet cocoa powder takes on the task of fading things out.
Spice forward with a burnt chile likeness is an unexpected but dominant flavor. Delicious. None of this advertised maple syrup plays a role in this symphony, but the oak and cocoa gladly elevate themselves in it place. Burnt toast with a drizzle of molasses, which assumingly can be perceived in place of the absence of maple syrup to my tongue, is met with the sweet and restrained shot of bourbon.
It's rich and creamy with a sweet start, dismissed quickly by a spicy and tingly feel. Arguably balanced, but that flip flop effect leaves it a bit uncentered to me. A tad hot with a roasted dark chocolate prescribed bitterness, and a creeping oak inspired dryness in the end.
More dry and robust than expected. This here is no pastry stout but the coffee defends the breakfast aspect proudly. It is a stouty stout, and immensely enjoyable. I'm not sure if it wins over original Super Nebula, but I won't complain if I can continue to compare.
Cheers.

A superb version of a very fine stout. The thing I like about Super Nebula is its dry cocoa astringency, a clean, strong departure from the more common sweet chocolate tones. And that comes through very nicely here. Super dark and opaque. The nose is rich with the sharp caramel and char notes from the very fine barrels. The taste cashes all the checks, paying off in generous complexity and staying true to the clean, slightly bitter nature of the base beer. Some have said that the feel of SN is a bit thin, which could be true, but I think it works beautifully with the dry cocoa nature of the beer. Overall, a very fine version of a superb stout.
