Fairly thin and mild this golden ale is pretty much the entry level for people who don't like beer. Flavor has a bit of an adjunct edge which coarsens as the beer warms. Soft mouthfeel with little in terms of bitterness or aroma from the hops. A good beer for a spicy dish or one where stronger flavors would be too obtrusive.

A mild crisp ale, well suited to the excellent 'Southwest Burger - . . . juicy burger patty with fried jalapeños, grilled onions, cheddar jack cheese and spicy tomato ranch sauce'.

Gentle. Training wheels. Prohibition-y. Clean husks. Balance.
Grain storage.
Not a snappy refresher, stripped-down, accessible.
Looks like the name. Glass goes down. Not many people drinking this here. I wish they'd throw this one and give us a true pilsner, but that's rough, too-consuming, and would be lost on those who like this beer.

I had this as a finish to an evening with a good friend who now lives in Corvallis. A fine beer when you want a modest refreshing beer with a listed abv of 4.5%. A very nice looking rich gold color with some minor laqcings. A mild malty aroma. Taste is sweet malts with just enough hops to lift this above any macro lager. The listed IBU is 18 which makes this a very sessionable beer as well. I was surprised how much real flavor could be enjoyed in such a light bodied beer.

Over lunch with my dad I began my Block 15 odyssey with a light golden ale suited to a midday pint. Golden Glo (sometimes referred to as "Glo Golden Ale) is brewed with all organic grains as a simple crossover beer. Our server even mentioned that it was "kind of like Budweiser." (Note to server: please, no more Bud references.)
Of course, Bud's a lager and this is an ale. But I think what he meant is that this is a light golden beer of modest stature that won't frighten the uninitiated. Fair enough. It is brewed to simple balances with unobtrusive bittering to luminous gold with a modest haze. It showed a slight rim of head and delivered discrete citric overtones.
For the casual, low-intensity beer it aspires to be, Golden Glo works quite well. The prerequisite clean taste is its key to success.
