500 ml bottle from Roth's in West Salem OR
$5.99
Pours a coca-cola type brown colour with a small bubbly tan head..leaves nice lace.
Nice sour fruity aromas..mostly blackcurrants, brambles ..
Taste is mellow sourness to start..fruitiness then the return of a perfect sourness at the end. Great
Near perfect mouth feel for the style..lightish but still sturdy..
Over all a nice Oud Bruin.

Slighly malty with a hint of fruity berry & figs. Very slight hint of vinegar.

Not to much to look at, yet still sexy enough. Cola brown bordering black and pretty clean looking. The fizzy light tan head dissipates within seconds and leaves nothing to show for it.
Aroma is very acidic. White vinegar meets balsamic with a touch of sour cherries and an even lighter not of wood.
But wow, that flavor. Chocolate is surprisingly noticeable over sour black cherries and hints of tobacco, smoke, and finally Granny Smith apple skins.
Very tart, very acidic, but a nice punch of chocolatey sweetness cuts through at the start of each sip. Light and bubbly feeling throughout, yet still demands tiny, infrequent sips.
Pretty good Our Bruin here and deserves a higher rating than what's currently stamped. Not quite Petrus or Monks Cafe, but I'd put this up against The Dissident. It's pretty damn good, and I think it would do quite well with a little age on it.
Cheers!
