Look: Mahogany on the pour and ruby-red when help to light with a billowing light tan head that pillows up and slowly settles, leaving minimal lacing behind
Aroma: Tree nuts, toffee, melanoidin, freshly baked brown bread, earthiness, roast, and some dried dark fruit notes
Taste: Roast, brown bread, and toffee hit first and soon joined by nutty notes and earthiness that weave in and blend nicely. Nuts and roast shine in the middle along with light dark fruit notes before bread and toffee regain momentum and close it out
Mouthfeel: Full but light feeling, medium-high carbonation, quite clean throughout, and finishes soft but with a light dryness/astringency
Overall: This is delicious. This is such an underrated and underrepresented style so I’m always down when a stateside brewery takes one on and will always try it. Block 15 has been hitting some home runs lately and this one is another tasty and well-made addition to their rotating releases. Tasty and recommended

I was expecting a pale mild, but this is clearly a dark mild.

A dark brown with brown highlights, this beer is capped with a beige head with good retention and lacing. The nose has toffee, burnt toast, chicory and earthy, leafy English hops. Mildly fruity yeast as well. The palate opens with a blend of roast and toast, with a blend of whole wheat bread, and a little brown sugar. Toffee and caramel notes, but without the sweetness and heft they add, are present. Drying, fruity, arguably a hair too sweet, this beer is light and creamy on the palate and finishes with lingering bitterness and roast. Yum.

16 oz. can purchased from Lifesource Natural Grocer in Salem OFR
$3.59
Pours a deep chestnut brown with a lovely thick and frothy beige head. A handsome beer indeed.
Aromas of earth and wet deciduous forest. Some tobacco and milk chocolate. Fine.
Taste semi dark chocolate and milky coffee. Some roasty matls. Some creamy berries. Really nice.
Mouth feel is light carbonation medium. A quaffer for sure.
Very nice mild reminds me off Black Cat. Nice to see brewers making these least loved styles.

16-ounce can purchased at ABV Public House in Hillsboro, OR. Poured into a nonic half-pint glass. Date stamp reads "PKGD 06/09/21".

Look:
The color is just gorgeous, a deep, clear red-brown with brilliant ruby highlights. A careful pour raises a quarter-inch of off-white foam that quickly vanishes, leaving only a few spots of lacing behind.

Smell:
Dark malts, toasted brown bread, a whiff of brown sugar.

Taste:
Starts off more roasty and less sweet than the nose suggested, but a little more sweetness comes through as the beer warms. Finishes semi-dry with a subtle caramel note, some earthy bitterness, and plenty of roasty malt.

Feel:
Medium-light body with a silky texture. Moderate amount of carbonation that starts off a little rough but softens after a little time in the glass.

Overall:
Block 15 English Mild rewards patience. The roast malt flavors and carbonation start off a bit harsh, but the beer pulls together nicely as it warms. I think a cask version served at cool cellar temperatures would bring out the best in this one.
