On tap at the Brewpub last night. This was the one really bright spot I encountered after sampling several Block 15 beers last night. This was described on the menu as a hoppy, seesisonable, amber, though I assume that technically it's really a pale ale... and a good one!
The beer pours an orange amber color, with pretty good head retention and lots of sticky lacing all around. The nose is impressive, as I get a considerable blast of citrus and pepper on the nose. As good as this beer smells, it tastes even better. The hops really take center stage in this light, extremely hoppy and bitter, well made ale. There's just a kiss of sweet malt to keep the bitterness from becoming overwhelming, and in fact the beer has a mouth-watering quality to it. This beer is very light on it's feet, yet doesn't lack for flavor at all. Drinkability is exceptional. I'll be damned if I can recall the last time I had a pale ale with enough hoppy goodness to keep me satisfied with this low level of alcohol.
Just delicious...
