This unique German-style ale is fermented with traditional Kölsch ale yeast—producing fruity, rustic yeast notes—but cold-conditioned like a lager, resulting in a cleaner and more rounded character. Brewed with Pilsner malts and German hops, Summer Knights offers crisp pilsner aromas, light fruit flavors, and mild hop notes in the finish. Pours a gold, slightly hazy pint.

Clear golden yellow brew with adequate foam in the New Belgium snifter. Pleasantly aromatic but not perfumey as the classic Germans. Clean and crisp with a malty flavor. HInts of cake and biscuits. Just slightly sweet with a resiny hint and something herbal and hoppy in the aftertaste. It is not notable as a Kölsch, but highly quaffable, just more substantial than typical light lagers. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station. Dated 05/11/22.

Look: Clear straw yellow with a nicely forming head with tiny bubbles that settles, leaving good lacing behind
Aroma: Straw, floral hops, a little honey, some grassy notes, and pilsner malt
Taste: Follows nose but both the straw-like malt and floral hops are definitely in the limelight here. Super clean and crisp throughout and finishes with a nice honey-kissed malt note along with some grassiness
Mouthfeel: Clean and crisp, medium-high carbonation, and soft on the finish with no lingering aftertaste
Overall: This is some delicious beer. I missed this on tap last year when the keg blew right before I arrived so was pumped to find it packaged this year in 4pk cans. A super tasty take on a Kolsch and well made all around, which isn’t surprising given this brewer’s reputation. Delicious and recommended

Can with a '50's vibe, nicely done. It's a beer made for summer. Light golden color, clear and crisp. Light head, a bit low on the carbonation. True to style, you get a malt base and light bitterness with a touch of sweetness. Not a great deal to say, just a nice, well crafted lager. Get some while the weather is still hot - grab a can from thefridge and head for the shady part of the porch.

Wow 9 years since last review!
16 oz can purchased from Lifesource Natural Grocers in Salem OR.
$3.49
Pours the expected clear golden..with a lovely sized frothy white head.
Not getting much aroma..some paper and bread..thats about it.
Taste the same..this is more a lager than a kolsch but i do get some honeyish kolsch notes in the end.
Mouth feel is good for mthe heat at this time of year.
A nice summer ber but not what i expect from a kolsch.

Appears translucent yellow with a thin white head.

Smells floral, of honey and of sweet grains.

Tastes of mild but slightly sweet light malt. I also get a mild floral and grassy flavor to the beer.

There is a light and crisp mouthfeel to the beer.

Overall a pretty nice summer beer. This would be a great beer for sitting on the porch during a hot summer day/ night. It is not a truly memorable beer but it is a nice refreshing summer time beer.

Sampled at the outset of the Wildwood beer dinner.

The beer pours a fairly light gold color with good head retention and lacing. On the nose, I get some light light honey and pepper, along with some light citrus. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely, but with some nice snappy bitterness in the finish. This is just delightful (talk about a perfect summer afternoon beer). Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, with soft, moderately long, lingering bitter finish. Alcohol is completely undetectable.

Just an all around fun, easy to appreciate summer sipper.

This was a great beer that I enjoyed on tap at Mountain Bike OR in Oakridge.

Appearence: Slightly cloudy with a golden color to it. I poured with a white lacy head on it.
Smell- Was refreshing with a little fruity and pilsner hoppy smell.
My first drink rolled around my mouth as a refreshing light beer with a wounderful pilsner flavor. It has a fruity lemon and berry flavor that comes through on the light side but just enough to make this beer a little more enjoyable.
mouthfeel-This was the perfect balance of carbonization.

I would recommend you grab one of these this summer if you can get your hands on one...
