Dark Matter is a dry porter that combines deep, roasty malt character with notes of cocoa and dark fruit from the addition of chocolate to the conditioning tank—a rich blend of flavors that is balanced by a dry finish and gentle malt acidity.

Almost solid black appearance.
Light carbonation with maybe a medium body, perhaps a hair thin.
Aroma is an excellent combination of dark fudge, mocha, bakers chocolate, and what seemed like chocolate ice cream.
Taste was way drier, less sweet than aroma suggested. Dark chocolate, mocha, roasted malt, bitter dark coffee.
Overall what made this beer so unbelievably great is that it had so many elements of chocolate. But I would never call this a dessert beer. Wish I had access to this more often

A: The beer is dark brownish black in color. It poured with a short light beige head that died down
S: Light to moderate aromas of Hershey's chocolate syrup are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of dark and roasted malts along with notes of chocolate syrup and hints of hot chocolate mix.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This porter is very chocolatey but isn't that heavy on the palate.

Nothing too out of ordinary. Mild roast, cocoa powder, smooth milk chocolate, fairly thin in body but appropriate for the style and ABV. Carbonation is sufficient. Goes down nice and easy. Not dissimilar to Black Butte.

Look: Jet black with a tan head, receding to 1/4” with good lacing
Aroma: Chocolate, figs, prunes, roast, and hazelnuts
Taste: Huge, rich chocolate punch up front, followed with slight bitter chocolate. Smooth on impact, with a clean and slightly dry finish
Mouthfeel: About on-point for the style. Good and satisfying – not too light but not too heavy – quaffable
Overall: Solid chocolate porter here. I don’t seem to try too many darker offerings from these folks but will definitely seek out more of this and others during these colder months

Purchased late Oct '19, date code unreadable. Rich, dark pour. Very light head, fades fast. Smell molasses and chocolate with some residual breadiness. Take a sip --- and it's chocolate, chocolate and, by the way, some chocolate notes show up. Per the label, dry and with no sweetness or lactose / sweetness. Good mouthfeel, let it warm up a little and sip a little at a time to let more levels of flavor. A good ale for a slightly cool fall evening. Reasonably priced as well.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a half finger dark khaki head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of semi-sweet dark toasted malt, milk chocolate, vanilla and a hint of coffee. Flavor follows, with a start of slightly sweet, dark toasted malt, good milk and dark chocolate and light vanilla. Dries out into a dark chocolate finish with a bit of coffee bitterness. More of a mocha porter profile. Medium bodied with light creaminess. Both flavor and aroma are exceptional for 5% they pack a lot of flavor into this porter. The semi-sweet start and dry finish make it interesting throughout the glass. I like this a lot. I don’t drink as many low ABV porters as I used to, but I will get this again.

If you're a fan of a pitch black Porter with chestnut highlights and a creamy tan, super lacing foam, then this one looks pretty damn near perfect.

The aroma is quite heavy on chocolate. A little sweet in fact, with toasted bread and nuts clearly playing the support cast.

Flavor is dominated by semi sweet chocolate as well. Toasty, nutty, and mineral flavors follow and come through quite well in the finish, especially as it warms.

Very unique feel as it starts off creamy but moves quickly into a thin bodied, dry, watery and bitter finish.

Interesting beer here. Has some very classic English Porter qualities to it, yet boasts chocolate nuances. Very much reminds me of Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout.

Cheerio!

Pours the darkest of mahogany brown with a nice small thick tan coloured head.
Aroma of drnking chocolate powder and semi dark chocolate bar wrapper..slightly dusty. Good,
Taste similar Cadburys Drinking Chocolate..some slight ashiness, a tinge of liquorice and some cream.
Mouth feel is on the thin side..but carries well..slightly dry in the end.
Regular chocolate porter..drinkable

First had: on nitro at their brewpub

Wow. Amazing beer. Not since Voodoo's Cowbell Stout have I had a choco-centric beer that was so good as this was.

Poured a rich dark black, slight tinges of brown on the bottom of the glass, and the thickest, creamiest tan head, that retained til the last drop, and coated the glass with heavy lacing...not even lacing, it was like a blanket. Aroma of milk chocolate. Tasted like heaven in a glass...chocolate milk, milk chocolate, in a big way, with a roasty malt finish. Velvety smooth and rich, full-bodied. They called it an English dry porter, but all my senses told me it was a sweet stout, and it was certainly rich enough to be. And at 5.5%ABV, I could drink this all day everyday.

They also had a cask option available, but I'd imagine this beer to be best on nitro with a slight chill to it.
